The Rock: NewBreed (9 pm)
NewBreed are a long established band totaling a whole nine years since formation, with the original line up still going strong! With all four members still only at the age of 23, with such experience and commitment behind them, they are a force to be reckoned with. Since the band formed back in 1995 they have gone from strength to strength, and now have a long history of success from the releases of their material, to touring the UK and abroad, performing at some of the UK's top venues. With a 100% loyal fan base up and down the country, with much appreciated help from their street team around the UK, NewBreed have had to brave the industry alone over the last 9 years releasing all music and videos off their own label flaming star records. But with the interest generated by their new music video people vs. Newbreed will be signing to a UK label on their return from the States in July. NewBreed take pride in their excellent track record of five star reviews of live performances and recorded material, gaining the band such quotes as "a tidal wave of
pure power" by UK rock net and similar praise from various mags and radio stations across the UK. This is the band with the buzz you have been looking for with an un-missable live show like no other. The band are Currently touring the UK, before they hit America in July and Canada in October.

The Rock: Food Will Win the War (record release) 9:45 pm

Food Will Win the War is the Charlie Kaufman of New York Indie Rock. Their slightly quirky songs employ irregular meters, indefinite silences, and full four part vocal harmonies. The melodies are carried by frontman Rob Ward in the depths of the bass range (a la Stephin Merritt). The result is a new sound of Indie Rock that is musically interesting anduniversally accessible.

Give it a whirl. You might like 'em.

The Rock: the Impulse (10:30 pm)

Basement shows, record stores, tight pants, skateboards, tube amps, blurry photos, pink vinyl, rubber stamps, sharpie markers, throwing guitars, 8 tracks, bleeding fingers, telescopes and videotape. These are just a few things that come to mind when one thinks of The Impulse. This power-pop trio features members of former Jersey City bands, The Alphamales and Dirt Bike Annie. See the The Impulse
before someone you don't like is telling you about them.

The Rock: P*S*K (11:15 pm)

New York City's hard electropop trio P*S*K have become increasingly difficult to ignore. With a self-produced record that rivals anything on the Billboard charts (or anywhere else) more and more appearances in the media (MTV, film soundtracks, the music press) and a truly awe-inspiring live show, everyone from stodgy critics (the Village Voice, All Music Guide) to admiring fellow musicians (Nuno Bettencourt, King's X) have sung the praises of P*S*K. Fans as far flung as Spain, Germany, Japan, Sweden and the UK have picked up the scent, too, as "The Revenge of P*S*K" consistently sells copies all over the globe.

In a time when manufactured pop idols and formulaic emo bands rule the airwaves, the world needs P*S*K more than ever. Joyful, subversive, flamboyant and fearless, they are salsa in a world of musical oatmeal. Go on, have a taste -- it's good for you.

The Rock: the Attorneys (12 Midnight)

Three Boys from Brooklyn charge into the musical fray with melancholy, multilayered vocals and a canny combination of staccato riffs and expansive atmosphere.

William Ryan George had complete strangers of both sexes proclaiming their love of him when he made his first appearance at The King of Karaoke's Trash Bar Friday Night. His fragile yet complex demeanor is gentle and approachable, and so is his songwriting . A Brian Wilson for generation Y. John Wlaysewski is a major songwriting force and has helped shape the direction that they now strive towards with great determination. A self taught musical experimentalist , he has been compared to The Edge and Robert Fripp in the same sentence, though he names his writing influences as William Ryan George, Rivers Cuomo and Andy Summers.
Ken Weisbach is a musical journeyman with many talents and interests. His drumming is reflective of a rock/jazz/latin upbringing, particularly similar to the
styles of Stewart Copeland and Neil Peart. A keyboard player and singer by trade. Ken Weisbach brings numerous ideas to the musical table.

The Rock: Pete and J (9 pm)

Pete and J are a performing and songwriting duo based in New York City. In a few short months since their move to the Big Citay, they have already garnered a devoted following, and have had the chance to tour up and down the Northeast, and are just returning from a short tour of the UK. Pete and J's songs are founded in musical tradition of blues, rock, and folk, with an emphasis on complex vocal harmony in the style of Simon and Garfunkel. They come equipped with a full band, and plaid shirts.

The Rock: Fire Flies (9:45 pm)

There are four of us. We make music together. Sometimes our songs are about aliens or robots. Sometimes they are about outer space. Sometimes they are about getting lost in other dimensions. And then sometimes they are about people not being happy with their general life choices. We know an alien when we see one. We also have a robot named Titus that plays music with us.

We are a band called Fire Flies.

The Rock: the Couriers (10:30 pm)

The Couriers is a four-piece band from NYC that delivers a unique blend of modern indie rock hooks brimming with math-rock and post-punk sensibilities. At once driving and up-beat, rocking and dreamy, they share moments reminiscent of the British Invasion, as well as respect for the rugged street- smarts of Fugazi and Blonde Redhead. Other influences include The Beatles, Sebadoh, Guided By Voices, and The Police.

NYC's local indie mag, The Deli, asks, "Where has this band been hiding? It's rare to have the singular, exhilarating experience of listening to a new band and realizing that you're listening to the next outfit worthy of indie-stardom. This is exactly what I felt when I heard the first guitar strums of The Couriers' debut album. A four piece with post-punk sensibility, their sound is edgy, but dreamy. It's a testament to their music talents that they've only been together since '04 because their sound is polished, with layered melodies and intricate harmonies. Highlights include the haunting track "Every Exit an Entrance", and the frenetic "Day of Man." This is damn good music, and the album's biggest shortcoming is that there are only nine tracks".

The Couriers original recording of "Every Exit an Entrance" appears in the 2006 film "Holly" starring Chris Penn (Reservoir Dogs) and Ron Livingston (Office Space).

The Couriers play regularly at NYC venues including CBGB, Trash Bar, Rothko, and Crash Mansion, as well as at clubs in New Jersey and Boston. Their live show is consistently full of explosive energy and playful dynamics that bring crowds back again and again.

The Rock: the Renoirs (11:15 pm)
Hailing from Greenpoint, Brooklyn; The Renoirs channel the hey day of Elvis Costello and reinvent the Bandwagonesque stylings that we all know and love. A swarmy and often surprising group of young lads that will make you swoon and rock you sweetly all night long.

The Rock: in.spite.of (12 midnight)

in.spite.of is a band with a familiar yet uniquely identifiable sound, which separates them from the sea of young new talent. Fronted by two singers, in.spite.of is a vocally driven central New Jersey band that breathes new life into, what is considered by most, a stifled period in alternative rock, a true diamond in the rough. Having put together a strong diverse musical style and a strong fan base, the band has caught the ears of some national touring acts. They have shared the stage with the likes of Incubus, System of a Down, Godsmack, Something Corporate, Injected, and 2 Skinnee J’s, to name a few.

in.spite.of has also been able to draw the attention of producer Sal Villanueva whose credits include: Thursday’s "War All The Time, "Full Collapse", "Waiting" and Taking Back Sunday’s "Tell All Your Friends", and recorded with him at the Legendary Big Blue Meenie Studio and continue to collaborate on some forthcoming recordings.
