The Rock: El Jezel (9 pm)
Welcome back after a long absence...
The trio of El Jezel strives to carry on the proud tradition of cacophonous beauty perfected by bands like Sonic Youth and Yo La Tengo. Their mixture of male and female vocals can be as tender as a whisper and as abrasive as a rusty nail, while those same dynamics are reflected through their instruments. Employed liberally are heavy and tangled beats, fuzzed-out bass lines, and the dark shadow of an ethereal guitar. They rock divine.
"...an off-kilter bass heavy very Sonic Youthish pop inspired band with stage presence to spare and then some...most definitely a band on the rise and not to be missed- feel the love for yourself." - jasper coolidge (www.jenyk.com)

The Rock: Nemo (9:45 pm)
brooklyn boys dun good
Taking the listener through a journey of harmonies, feedback, experimental sounds & sonic collisions, Nemo's debut LP Signs of Life has earned the worldly praise of rock critics & fans alike. With Left Off The Dial declaring it "One of the best albums of the year" and The New York Press proclaiming "Lord knows we've been waiting for Rock and New Wave to marry for a long time... Putting 60's vocal stylings against a new wave backdrop and putting sonic experimentation between the two, Nemo mends the bridge between 60's contemporaries like The Moody Blues, and The Velvet Underground, and 80's New Wave/Alt Rock pioneers like The Cure/New Order, and create their own sound in the process. Not to be missed! "

The Rock: Year of the White Buffalo (10:30 pm)
rock to rip it up...
This story is one of hard work, compassion and perseverance. Singer-songwriter Dave Black (Liquid Logic; Driver; My Favorite Sex) delivers his most personal work to date with the highly anticipated, newly formed project, “Year of the White Buffalo.” His songs inspire and provoke and leave the listener thinking about how this old soul lives in a present day body – wise beyond his years.
Seeing potential at an early age for his uncanny ear for music and the passion to pursue it, his Grandfather bought him all of his first instruments. He spent countless hours in his room honing his skills and learning his craft – this would shape his life.
Eventually opportunity rose while attending his first year of college. Black quit school to join a band back in New York City with a few seasoned musicians who were a bit older than him. Now playing bass for "My Favorite Sex," Black started to experience the NYC music scene. "My Favorite Sex" had a strong underground following with a sound ahead of its time. Though never signed to a major label, the band never had a problem filling venues to capacity. This band later became the newly released sensation, “Joy Zipper,” which Black still plays with from time to time.
Frustrated with the lack of risk labels would, or in this case, would not invest in, Black started to search for other opportunities. Approached by the singer and guitar player of what would soon become buzz band “Liquid Logic,” was just what Black had in mind. Within this band, they would collectively write and record their creative genius, building a sound that was both eclectic and psychedelic with a hard rock influence. "Liquid Logic" signed a record deal and immediately started to tour around the country opening up for name acts on huge stages. After several years together, the members of "LL" started to take on a variety of projects in recording, writing and producing and found themselves wrapped up and enjoying other aspects of the business, paving the way for each to experiment with other ventures.

News: Can drinking it slow the aging process?
a new study says yes
With St. Patrick's Day and March Madness soon upon us, Americans probably don't need any more reasons to toss back a few beers. But we'll give you some anyway.
Researchers in Austria and the Czech Republic -- two nations that drink more than their fair share of suds - - have just released studies that suggest that beer is an anti-inflammatory and can slow the aging process.
Defending the party of Davos Isn't it healthy that there's a growing class of people worldwide who see their interests as intertwined?
In a study published in the March issue of International Immunopharmacology, scientists at Austria's Innsbruck Medical University found that hops, a key ingredient in beer, affect the production of neopterin, a telltale sign of inflammation, and levels of the amino acid tryptophan (low levels are associated with more inflammation.)
Like red wine and green tea, whose health benefits have been widely reported, beer was found to reduce neopterin production and suppress degradation of tryptophan, according to the study.
